Scenic Highlights

Only Marlborough boasts a fifth of the country’s coastline, New Zealand’s largest wine region, and its largest high-country farm.

The winding waterways of the beautiful Marlborough Sounds make for brilliant boating, fishing, water activities and wildlife viewing including dolphin watching. The iconic 72km Queen Charlotte Track can be explored by foot, mountain bike or sea kayak over one or several days.

There's an abundance of vineyards and cellar doors surrounding Blenheim, so explore the stunning Wairau Valley and discover why the world is in love with Marlborough wine. Driving through the golden hills and vineyards of the Awatere Valley, you'll find snow-capped mountains to one side and the blue Pacific Ocean on the other.

Discover, Explore, Taste

It is not just about world famous Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand’s largest winegrowing region and the soils and enviable climate that create it. It’s also about fresh seafood sought by the world’s finest chefs. And it’s about diverse landscapes, from valleys of vines to sheltered waterways.

A place with culture and history runs wide and deep; where Aotearoa’s earliest Polynesian settlers arrived on Te Pokohiwio-Kupe/Wairau Bar. Learn how they first discovered the abundance and richness of this region, more than 800 years ago. Hear the legends of the Marlborough Sounds, and stand in the place where Māori and Europeans met.
