There are numerous ways of seeing Queen Charlotte Sound, with guided and unguided kayak rentals, yacht and launch charters, mail boats and cruises. Visit island sanctuaries, where New Zealand’s most endangered wildlife flourishes, or historic Ship Cove - explorer James Cook's favourite anchorage during his explorations of New Zealand.



Picton is a unique cruise port with vessels berthing at either Waimahara Wharf in Shakespeare Bay or Waitohi Wharf close to the centre of the small, picturesque township.

Picton offers passengers an enjoyable shore experience with its shopping, swimming, marinas, and nearby vineyards. There are excellent facilities for cruise programmes both within the Marlborough Sounds and on shore excursions.
