A Spectacular Alpine Experience The Southern Alps of the South Island are host to a number of superb ski resorts. One of the most beautiful and best value is Rainbow Ski Area near St Arnaud, high in the north of this great mountain chain within the world famous Marlborough lifestyle region. Reaching a height of over 1760 metres, Rainbow captures regular winter snow, complemented by extensive snow making, all superbly groomed to create a stunning winter playground. Winter fun for everyone The wide un-crowded slopes and well groomed trails provide superb terrain for beginners and intermediates while advanced skiers can challenge themselves in the high powder runs and chutes. Snowboarders love the varied terrain, jumps, bumps and drops. A terrain park has been developed, offering more thrills & spills for adventurous boarders and skiers. The terrain park has great variety of rails and features to suit beginner riders to pros. The park is groomed and prepared each night for optimum riding conditions. The terrain park has its own tow so you can spend hours enjoying the equipment without the need to return to the main lift. Access Road The access road to Rainbow is well maintained and is suitable for 2WD and 4WD vehicles. Chains must ALWAYS be carried (or fitted if required) by ALL vehicles. Being an alpine environment, conditions can rapidly change and chains may need to be fitted without notice. A shuttle service is available from the base of the mountain. How To Get There From Blenheim drive to Renwick and then follow State Highway 63 to the Ski Field turnoff. It is around 90 minutes drive from Blenheim and 1 hour 50 mins from Picton.
