Pelorus Tours is based in the Kenepuru Sound but you can connect with our services from Havelock, gateway to the Pelorus sounds; Also Raetihi, Portage and Te Mahia in the Kenepuru Sound. We are fourth generation owner/operators who delivered the royal mail, and still based in the Kenepuru where one of our vessels, a kauri launch, "Toroa" was built for survey over 50 years ago, re-vamped in 1997, and still operates today. We cater for groups from 2-100 with our fleet of 3 vessels offering a variety of activities from Fishing and scalloping (in season), Eco Tour trips in January each year to Maud Island, a scientific Reserve Island managed by D.O.C., Cruises, Family Day Trips, Corporate Trips, Mussel Farm Tours, Garden Tours and general water transport for groups. Regularly on a Friday you can join Gary on a baby green shell mussel research Trip or let Gary, with his decades of experience, give you commentary on a Pelorus history cruise exploring the many scenic bays or points of interest such as the Amokura ship wreck in the Kenepuru. With our mammal watching permit we can view dolphins, seals, or if you're lucky, orca, in the natural waterways the Sounds have to offer. Let us put a package Tour together for your group and show you the natural beauty of the sounds giving you a personalised itinerary with our local knowledge of our area, the Pelorus Sound.
