Jane Hunter CNZM, O.B.E is known around the world as the First Lady of New Zealand Wine. As owner, viticulturist and managing director of Hunter’s Wines since 1987, Jane has lead the company to outstanding local and international success as one of New Zealand’s ground-breaking premium wine labels. Recognised for her efforts, Jane has been the recipient of many awards and acknowledgements, including the prestigious Women in Wine Award, an O.B.E. and in the 2009 New Years Honours Jane were bestowed with a CNZM (Companion to the New Zealand Order of Merit) for services to viticulture.

Hunters is still breaking new ground with new varietals, new wine making techniques and new branding, consistently keeping the team at Hunter’s seeking the best for it’s wines. Hunter’s protects the environmental integrity of their wine production by providing a “best practice” model of environmental practices in the vineyard and winery consequently operating as a highly sustainable vineyard. 

The Cellar Door is located within the original farmhouse on our Rapaura Road Winery site; you can discover the genuine spirit of Hunter's Wines. The farmhouse, with its vintage charm, has been thoughtfully renovated while preserving its authentic character. Our knowledgeable and approachable team is ready to warmly welcome you and share the rich history of our Marlborough winery.
