Clos Henri is the Marlborough vineyard organically run by the famous Sancerre (Loire Valley, France) winegrowing family of Henri Bourgeois. Gathering 10 generations of know-how with Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, the Bourgeois family wanted to broaden its horizons and continue crafting exceptional wines outside of France. To discover new terroir and diverse winemaking perspectives, they undertook a lengthy twelve-year world search for a site like their own in Sancerre, where ultra-premium Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir could be grown. After extensive exploration of possible wine regions globally, Marlborough presented itself with perfect soil matches for the varieties here in the Wairau Valley. The Clos Henri estate has three unique soil types on site which shape the different styles of Clos Henri wines. Join us in our tasting room, a quaint old chapel, as we guide you through those unique soil types expressed in our terroir driven wines. Gourmet cheese plates can be enjoyed with a glass or two of our wines at the Cellar Door, all throughout the year! Come taste our terroir... Cellar Door hours: Monday- Saturday: 10am - 4pm Sunday: By appointment only
