The Taylor River Trail from Blenheim near State Highway 1 stretches along the scenic Taylor River right up to the Taylor Dam Reserve (near the Wither Hills Mountain Bike Park).
Enjoy a short ride along part of the trail or pack a picnic and do the return 5km ride. The grade is low and there's plenty of shady trees and lots of river spots to paddle in. It's also a brilliant dog exercise area, so bring your pooch too.
5km return
Easy
1. Keep left.
2. Cyclists should let pedestrians know when they are approaching by politely calling out or ringing a bell when approaching from behind.
3. Cyclists should pass on the right, when possible – unless the pedestrians are on the right in which case pass them in the safest way possible.
4. Cyclists should ride defensively and cycle at a speed that does not put others at risk.
