Te Ataarangi Exhibition

Events  >  Te Ataarangi Exhibition
The Matariki Art Series is a collection of Te Ao Māori inspired artworks created by Te Ohu Weka, a collaborative art group based in Te Tauihu and working from Onetahua Marae. This group is guided by nationally acclaimed Māori artists Robin Slow and Mat Tait. Each year we produce a series of artworks, a selection of which are exhibited in community art galleries in the Top of the South.

Te Ataarangi ki Te Tauihu o Te Waka-a-Māui’s mission is to teach the Māori language as a medium through which the wellbeing of the world and of human beings might be raised. We are a community organisation of 42 years standing, fostering and promoting immersion teaching and learning opportunities of te reo Māori across the Top of the South - in the Tasman, Nelson and Marlborough regions. Through offering local courses, programmes, activities and gatherings, we aim to strengthen and restore reo capacity amongst whānau, hapū, iwi and communities. Te Ataarangi engages with over 600 learners per year in community classes, workspace PLD, and noho marae (immersion intensives).
