Picton Maritime Festival Trust

The Picton Maritime Festival is a FREE to enter, family-oriented event, celebrating the unique maritime heritage of Picton and the Marlborough Sounds. Our aim is to provide this event as a means of bringing the community together, enable children to learn about the region's maritime heritage in a fun and participatory way, as well as provide a valuable opportunity for parents and children to spend time together. From humble beginnings, it has developed each year into an event which now holds its own place on the summer events calendar.

Activities on Friday 16th are focused ashore and commence at 4.00pm at the main Interisland stage on the Picton foreshore. On Saturday 17th the main event will run from 10.30am to 11pm bringing up to 4,000 people to the Picton Foreshore. Chairperson Beryl Bowers said, “This year for our 21st annual festival, once again, we have had such an enthusiastic response from our loyal sponsors and amazing volunteers, meaning we can bring back some great local and national talent to the Interisland stage. As always, the festival has a maritime theme with FREE activities for all the family”.

On Friday evening 16th Jan, activities and entertainment will highlight local talent and community involvement. This is as always, a great way to get into the fun festive spirit for the main day of action on Saturday, which will highlight the maritime elements and will be packed with on-water activities including, raft building, raft races, free clinker-boat trips, swimming area etc.
