Picton's annual Christmas Parade and Carols is scheduled for the first Sunday in December - 7th December 2025.

The street parade starts from top end of High Street Picton with the Police car leading the parade and following is the Marlborough Pipe Band. The parade usually has approximately 20 + entries from local schools and businesses, sports teams, floats from different cultures, walking floats and more.

The volunteer committee consisting of eight women and one man who get together and organise the parade and carols + prize giving for the Best Community Float + second best - Best Commercial float + second best. Cash prizes are awarded. Entry forms can be obtained from The Picton Book Shop on High Street, Picton or email bowers@xtra.co.nz. There is no charge to enter the parade.

We are also running the best Christmas Window display. Entry forms will also be at The Picton Book Shop. There is no charge to enter the window display.

The red Santas post box will also be outside The Picton Book Shop for everyone to write a letter to Santa asking for those special gifts. All letters will be answered.

Of course, our most important float is Marlborough Lines Santa Float with the HO HO HOing starting from when he arrives. Lots of Lollie's and awarded during the parade not only from the Marlborough Lines float but by business and community floats. The Fire Brigade and their wonderful volunteers add a lot of noise with horns going most of the course.

The Prize Giving + Carols/Christmas songs are led by The Belles directed by Vicky Gardiner. We have the local schools also performing Kapa Haka, School Choirs and a dance display. There will also be FREE Facepainting for the children or young at heart along with a few food stalls.
