Picton Christmas Parade & Carols
Events > Picton Christmas Parade & Carols
This annual event is held the first Sunday in December - Sunday 1st December 2024. It is a fun family afternoon - Street Parade starts at 2.30pm from top end of High Street in front of the Picton Police Station. The parade is well supported from volunteer organisations along with local businesses. Lots of Lollie's and noise from the floats in the parade along with others handing out Free raffle tickets from Fresh Choice Picton. The raffle is drawn on the Picton Foreshore at the prize giving concert from 3pm.
Entry is Free but registration is essential for Health and Safety requirements. Registration forms can be emailed or can be picked up from The Picton Book Shop on High Street.
After the parade there is a concert with local children singing and also "The Belles" will be singing much loved Christmas Songs and Carols. The prize giving for the Best Community Float + Best Commercial float will be awarded with cash prizes. The Kapa Haka performance is a must to see. I always have goose bumps after their performance.
Free facepainting for the children and young at heart along with Free photos with Father Christmas/Santa. The Santa Post Box will be situated outside The Picton Book Shop for the children to write a letter to Father Christmas and post it. All letters will be replied too. Parents/Caregivers, please make sure the return address is included in the message. Thanks so much.
A few food stalls will be available to purchase food and help with voluntary organisations fundraising.
The committee also organises a best dressed window shop competition. Entry forms for this are also available from The Picton Book Shop or can be emailed out.
