TRS Sprayers & Equipment

In the peak of the season, every week in Marlborough, thousands of hectares of vines are sprayed to protect one of New Zealand’s most valuable crops. The demands are complex, chemical input is high, environmental expectations are rising, and downtime is expensive. For growers, performance, compliance, and efficiency are now inseparable. TRS Sprayers & Equipment by TRS Wholesale is engineering systems that meet these demands head-on.
TRS Wholesale design and manufacture vineyard sprayers that reduce waste, increase input efficiency, and align with the future of low-emissions and automation-ready viticulture. Designed in Marlborough and tested in the same conditions they are made to serve, TRS Sprayers & Equipment are delivering measurable productivity gains today, while preparing growers for the regulatory and technological environment of tomorrow.
From technical service to scalable capability
Adrian & Pam Orchard began their retail business, Tractor Repairs & Spares as a technical service provider, offering tractor repairs and parts for Marlborough vineyards. In 2020, they acquired the FMR sprayer product line, turning years of operational and service insight into manufacturing capability, forming TRS Wholesale Ltd. This move enabled TRS Wholesale to redefine its own line of vineyard & orchard sprayers under the new TRS Sprayers & Equipment brand, integrating practical experience with engineering control.
Today, TRS Sprayers & Equipment is available across New Zealand through a dealer network and into export markets, offering a product suite that includes narrow, standard, electric, and full recycling systems, all designed to perform under pressure and scale with changing industry demands.
Recycling systems that deliver a return
The R-Series recycling sprayer is engineered to recover up to 90% of off-target spray through a closed-loop recirculation system. Where conventional systems lose inputs to drift and runoff, TRS Sprayers & Equipment’s system captures and reuses what doesn’t reach the canopy.
Growers using the R-Series Sprayers, report up to 40% seasonal savings on input costs, with reduced diesel and chemical costs, as well as reduced operator downtime due to fewer refill cycles and improved spray efficiency. The system supports both environmental compliance and operational performance and is now used across New Zealand and internationally.
In some international markets, the recycling sprayer qualifies for government subsidies, an early signal of global demand for high-efficiency, sustainability-aligned agricultural machinery.
By converting spray waste into reusable input, the R-Series improves margins and reduces environmental risk. It is a clear example of engineering that enables value through efficiency.
Designed for electric and autonomous compatibility
TRS Wholesale is developing machinery to meet the requirements of electric and autonomous platforms. In partnership with Californian based, Monarch Tractor Company and other global technology leaders, the company has validated full-day electric-powered spraying in commercial trials, delivering consistent coverage with zero emissions when pairing their electric sprayer with an electric tractor.
To achieve this, TRS Wholesale has lowered energy demand across fan, pump, and drive components while maintaining spray performance. Sprayers are equipped with section control technology, enabling automatic on/off at the end of each row. This precision functionality reduces over-application, increases productivity, and ensures direct compatibility with autonomous tractors.
Electric and autonomous tractors are still emerging in New Zealand, but TRS Wholesales systems are ready to integrate. The capability exists today, tested under local conditions, giving growers a clear and credible path forward.
The TRS Wholesale Ltd team was recently recognised at the Port Marlborough, Marlborough Environmental Awards for their forward-thinking emission-friendly systems, taking home the Marlborough Lines Energy & Efficiency Award.
Engineered for long-term performance
TRS Wholesale designs systems where mechanical durability, energy efficiency, and environmental alignment are built into every component. Frames are hot-dip galvanised to resist corrosion. The narrow range and electric sprayer tanks are made from recyclable polyethylene. Hydraulic and electrical systems are optimised for reliability and low draw. This approach reduces servicing needs and extends product life. All TRS Sprayers & Equipment machines are supported by a comprehensive dealer network.
Sustainability outcomes are achieved by design. Spray recovery reduces chemical use. Lower energy demand improves compatibility. Section control ensures precision. These features are embedded, not optional, giving growers the tools to reduce input waste and meet environmental targets while maintaining operational efficiency.

"If it can survive in Marlborough, it’ll survive anywhere."
TRS Sprayers & Equipment machines are built to operate in one of the most demanding viticulture environments in the world. Marlborough’s intensity, tight spray windows, large canopy volumes, variable conditions, has become the design benchmark.
That performance standard is gaining international traction. Export interest is expanding across North America, Australia, and Europe. As demand increases for precision, compliance-ready equipment, TRS Wholesale is showing how regionally engineered solutions can deliver global impact.
TRS Wholesale is setting a new standard in vineyard spraying, measurable efficiency, lower emissions, and systems ready to evolve with the sector. It is engineering equipment for what viticulture demands now, and what it will require next.
