Marlborough is home to some of Aotearoa, New Zealand’s most innovative and pioneering sectors of the land and the ocean, particularly in wine, viticulture, and aquaculture. 

There are exciting opportunities for innovators working at the intersection between agriculture and technology, science, engineering and design.

Entrepreneurs are able to partner with large organisations to trial their offering 'in the field'. Plenty of initiatives are already under way, evidenced by these exciting tech and science-driven companies:

Marlborough is building its reputation as a international leader in agritech innovation, with local businesses delivering smart, scalable solutions to real-world challenges.

 

Fieldays 2025

Marlborough will be on show at Fieldays (11–14 June), New Zealand’s largest agritech and primary industries event. Held at Mystery Creek in Hamilton, Fieldays is a large platform to showcase innovation, connect with industry leaders, and promote regional capability.

This year, a standout group of Marlborough businesses will represent the region, leading in areas like sustainability, automation, and agritech. 

  • TRS Sprayers & Equipment – Electric sprayers that reduce emissions and recapture spray.

  • Repost – Repurposes broken vineyard posts, extending their usable life. 

  • Cloudy Bay – Post-pulling equipment for vineyard infrastructure recovery. 

  • The Green Circle – Organic waste converted into biochar for soil regeneration. 

 

WinePRO

A joint initiative by Wine Marlborough and Marlborough District Council, WinePRO will return in June 2026, following a successful inaugural conference over the last two years. 

WinePRO brings together producers and suppliers from across the "vine to wine" journey, the event highlights new technology, equipment, and services driving productivity, sustainability, and wellbeing.
