(The) Diversion Gallery
Contemporary NZ Fine Art Gallery by the Picton waterfront, open Wednesday-Saturday 12-5pm or viewing most welcome by appointment. (In summer we are open most days.) Open on request over Christmas-New Year period 27 December to January 7.
Since 1999, we have represented prominent and collectible New Zealand artists, with Solo and group exhibitions of paintings, sculpture and limited edition works. We also represent nationally recognised Marlborough abstract painter JS Parker, and are introducing several very individual emerging artists.
Through summer we tend to focus on group exhibitions featuring stunning works by very collectible NZ artists including: Nigel Brown, Fatu Feu'u, Gerda Leenards, JS Parker, Jeff Thomson, Graham Bennett, Bing Dawe, Michael Smither, Grahame Sydney, James Robinson. The gallery also represents the estate of the late Don Binney.
In autumn to spring, we stage solo exhibitions by artists from our portfolio. A full list can be found on the website www.thediversion.co.nz
Overseas visitors will find a snapshot of high quality contemporary NZ fine art, with good information on the artists available to view. The gallery is experienced at shipping art around the world.
You can also view a wide selection of limited edition screenprints, lithographs and etchings by both established and emerging artists - collectible works at an accessible price. These include a series created by senior NZ artists to raise funds for the National Whale Centre (in Picton). You can visit the NWC hub across the road to learn more about Picton's link with the whales - entry is free.
