Camp amongst one of Marlborough's last river-flat forests with towering beech, rimu and kahikatea trees bordering the beautiful Pelorus River at this DOC campground.

The modern amenity block provides stunning views of the Pelorus River from the kitchen and deck as well as hot showers and toilets which are wheelchair accessible. Bookings required pelorus@doc.govt.nz or 03 571 6019.

Enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal or snack, ice cream or drink from the cafe run by the resident camp managers.

Swim, kayak, fish, walk or picnic at this popular spot on SH6 18 km from Havelock. Walks range from 30 minute wheelchair accesible forest and riverside walks to a 3 hour return hike to Trig K (417m). The nationwide Te Araroa Trail also passes through Pelorus Bridge and continues up the Pelorus Track providing an alternative route to Nelson on foot (2-3 days).

Keruru (native woodpigeon), tui, bellbird and fantails can often be seen and heard in the surrounding forest. On a warm summers evening you may even be lucky enough to spot a rare native long tailed bat pass overhead. The bats and other native wildlife are being protected by a trapping project run by Forest and Bird in the area.

Please note due to the vulnerable native wildlife and forest at Pelorus Bridge fires, dogs and other pets are not allowed.
