Mahi Wines

Mahi meaning “our work, our craft” was established in 2001 and represents the fulfillment of a dream for Brian Bicknell and his wife Nicola. With a strong focus on single-vineyard wines from Marlborough, the idea has been to respect and promote the individuality of the various vineyards, their soils and their aspects.
The wines of Mahi are predominantly hand-picked, whole-cluster pressed and fermented with wild yeasts, encouraging wines of texture, mouth-feel and depth. Brian’s winemaking style for Mahi is to allow the vineyards to speak through the wines, with the wines being made in a very ‘hands off’ manner. The current range includes Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. This approach has led to a strong following amongst journalists, wine buyers and consumers alike.
The Mahi winery and cellar door is located on the western side of Renwick and is open for tastings and has recently added an informal ‘wine bar’ where guests can enjoy wines by the class and a simple selection of snacks to accompany their wines. Cellar Door is open during week days from 11-5pm.
