Jack's Raw Bar at Cloudy Bay
Stephanie McIntyre grew up with a love of good food, plucked straight from the water, picked straight from the tree, or sourced from passionate producers. When she moved to Marlborough from Canada in 2005, she brought that foodie focus with her, and now she’s in touch with many of Marlborough’s premium producers, and has a kitchen full of their fare.
“We are so spoilt in Marlborough when it comes to great food. We’ve got incredible seafood on our backdoor step, with crayfish from the east coast and salmon, oysters and mussels grown in the Marlborough Sounds. We’ve got gorgeous olive oil, pine nuts, honey and figs grown right here, wild game from the high country and Christmas cherries and plums straight from foodie heaven.”
Her love of the province and its food led Stephanie to set up Jack’s Raw Bar at Cloudy Bay Vineyard’s cellar door, where Tio Point oysters are shucked straight from their shell, salmon is served lightly cured, and slivers of venison carpaccio are marinated with juniper berries and peppercorns.
“These ingredients are so incredible, that the less you do to them the better. The raw bar showcases Marlborough’s produce in an elegant and unique way.”
