We carry everything from building materials to farm stock, machinery, logs, fuel etc. Specialists in mooring installation and service. With our 4WD pivot steer loaders we are able to load and unload materials across most sounds beaches and in many cases transport them right to the required site. We also have two 3 ton forklifts at our yard for unloading trucks and with a hiab on two of the barges and extensive winching and anchoring gear we are set up for most requirements. With a 100 years of family experience in launch and barge services in the Pelorus Sounds, Johnson’s Barge Service Ltd can offer transport for building materials, stock, bulk gravel, cement trucks & pumping gear just to name a few. We don’t just do the big jobs – small jobs are no problem either. We run out to the outer sounds at least once a week and can generally fit in smaller deliveries up and down the sounds along the way. Operating mainly in the Pelorus Sound and D’Urville Island area, but also going as far as Nelson and Golden Bay as required. Some building sites in the Sounds are a long distance from the shore or have steep, narrow access tracks making them difficult and time consuming to negotiate with our loader. Often it is far more efficient to use a helicopter to lift the loads straight off the barge and deposit them on site. We have extensive experience working with local helicopter operators to provide this service. We can arrange rubbish removal by supplying locally owned rubbish skips which, once filled, can be collected and brought back to Havelock where the skip operator uplifts them and take the rubbish to the dump. So easy!! If your septic tank needs cleaning out we can arrange to transport a local septic tank service truck to your property and empty the tank. This works best if there are two or three neighbouring properties which need the same service, to help keep the cost down.
