The Wairau river is a classic braided South Island River, fast flowing, cool, clear and very popular with fishermen. Guided fly fishing for brown and rainbow trout. Only a five minutes drive, your host Mike can take you on a guided fishing trip. Wairau Valley has many interesting people, follow the Wairau Valley Art Trail, map available in the Lodge. Visit Wairau Valley's Historic tavern, established in 1856, making it the oldest tavern still operating in Marlborough. For golf fans, Wairau Valley Golf Club has a top quality 9-hole course, which is as challenging and interesting as any self respecting golfer requires. The outlook and views from the course are guaranteed to settle the most frazzled nerves and are equal to the best in the country.
